Wherever cooling takes place, heat is also generated – and unfortunately this is often dissipated into the environment without being used. But that doesn't have to be the case! Waste heat utilisation systems from BMS-Energietechnik AG convert waste heat into valuable useful heat that can be used for domestic hot water and/or heating systems.

Waste heat recovery systems often pay for themselves within a few years due to the savings in other energy sources. Their use is particularly worthwhile where air conditioning, refrigeration or deep-freeze systems are frequently in operation. Typical areas of application are:
The aim of waste heat utilisation must be to use the greatest possible amount of energy with the lowest possible electrical energy consumption. This means making optimum use of all the valuable waste heat for as long as possible to preheat the water. The water temperature in the storage tank is not decisive here; what counts is the energy recovered and saved!
Remember, a refrigeration system is not a hot water production system; its primary task is to cool products. The resulting waste heat is a valuable by-product that should be used optimally.
The operator is happy when the condensers are not in operation for as long as possible and the valuable waste heat is not blown into the air!
Two add-on piping systems can be installed on a standard heat recovery storage tank. In combination with dual plate heat exchangers, lost heat from up to four refrigeration systems can be fed into a storage tank. The add-on piping systems are available as 2- or 3-way piping systems and also with double-walled plate heat exchangers.
The same system can also be constructed as wall piping.
The waste heat utilisation system developed by BMS-Energietechnik AG is technically and economically optimised to work with BMS fresh water technology.
For multiple refrigeration systems, larger output ranges or if the waste heat utilisation cannot be installed directly at the storage tank, the use of pre-collected waste heat utilisation is suitable. These are built into a housing or available open and are suitable for wall, ceiling or floor mounting.

Wherever waste heat is released unused into the environment. This is the case with sub-zero and above-zero refrigeration systems as well as with air conditioning and process cooling systems. Waste heat utilisation systems are suitable for use in small, medium-sized and large businesses. This includes bakeries, office buildings, supermarkets, hospitals, administrative buildings and industrial buildings.
Heat recovery
The unavoidable waste heat generated during a process is fed back into the same process without any significant time delay. Ideally, the source and consumer should match in terms of time and quantity. This results in a higher degree of plant utilisation.
Example: Dryer exhaust air heats dryer supply air.
Waste heat utilisation
The unavoidable waste heat generated during a process is reused in other processes either simultaneously or with a time delay.
Example: Waste heat from the refrigeration system heats domestic hot water or heating water.
Particular attention must be paid to the energy balance (heat supply and heat demand); heat storage is often necessary (simultaneity).
Payback calculation
By making optimum use of all waste heat, good waste heat utilisation systems have very short payback periods. This means that the plant operator starts to save money after only a short time.
